My first banner attempts

I've been trying my hand at banner work in my spare time. My idea was to make a few 1000x460 banners for my fic, Clocks of the Long Now , with each banner having a different character focus and corresponding treatment. Large versions of my first two attempts are under the cut.

Banner #1:
Skaya the Scourge
Notes:
I wanted Buffy's parallel universe twin to have a treatment that conveyed something about her dark and violent world. I settled on the motif of the clocks and gears as a reference to the role her fate plays in the overall plot. I chose Charlemagne for the font because I like the sharpness of it's edges, and I beveled the edges slightly to enhance this a bit.

Banner #2:
Dawn Summers
Notes:
Since the story takes place four years post-Chosen, I chose a more recent, more adult picture of Michelle for the base. The nebulous green matter is a reference to her "Key" identity, while the sort of mismatched ransom note font points to her new life of secrecy in the world of the story.
I'm new to this, so both positive and negative criticism are very much welcome. Thanks!
